Introduction to

Breast Lift

At our boutique practice in Las Vegas, breast lift surgery is one of our more popular procedures for women wanting to lift their breasts. As we age, time and gravity begin to pull the breasts down, losing firmness and volume. Besides age, many reasons women experience a loss of fullness can be pregnancy, breastfeeding, and weight fluctuations. As an expert Las Vegas breast lift surgeon, Dr. Jaiswal will lift the breasts, reposition the areolas, and remove any extra skin.

Dr. Jaiswal strives to deliver the best breast lift surgery Las Vegas socialites can look forward to. If you’re interested in a consultation or have any questions, please contact us today. We look forward to joining you on your journey of discovering the best version of yourself.

What is a

Breast Lift?

Simply put, a breast lift will not change the size of your breasts, but rather changes their position and shape of them. Whether it was caused by pregnancy, aging, weight gain or loss, gravity, or even your body’s natural shape, the ligaments and skin in our bodies are affected, causing your breasts to sag. Breast lift surgery has the capability of rejuvenating your breasts to your specifications, giving most recipients renewed self-confidence and a sense of happiness due to their aesthetic improvement.

What are the Benefits of a Breast Lift?

There are many advantages to a breast lift. Below, we’ve included some of the advantages we’ve seen first hand.

Tip: It is recommended to be near your ideal weight, in good health, be a non-smoker, and don’t plan on having children in the near future. Not only will these factors likely impact your breasts, but will also ensure a safer procedure.

  • The surgery reshapes your breasts by tightening the skin and underlying soft tissue, making them rounder, improving the shape and firmness, in addition to improving your cleavage.
  • The operation improves the asymmetry of your breasts.
  • The surgery lifts the breasts so the nipples point forward rather than downward, and/or correct stretched areoles.

Who are the Best Candidates for a Breast Lift?

Like any other surgical procedure, there are some important things to consider. If you have experienced any of the following factors, you may be considered an excellent candidate for breast lift surgery:

  • Have droopy or saggy breasts due to loss of skin elasticity and firmness.
  • Gone through significant weight loss.
  • Noticed a change in your breast due to pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • Candidates should have realistic expectations of what the surgery can do.

Breast Lift vs Breast Augmentation

While both procedures are invasive, surgical remedies to achieve fuller, better-defined breasts, you may be asking yourself which option is the best for you. Breast Augmentation will focus on creating volume, improving projection, and giving you a more “womanly” upper body, whereas a Breast Lift focuses on eliminating loose and sagging breast tissue to improve your breast positioning and restore a more youthful appearance to your breast. Neither treatment is “better” than the other and can even be combined, but please understand that by themselves, both surgeries will give you a different appearance. Dr. Jaiswal is experienced and trained in both procedures and would be more than happy to discuss which option is better suited to meet your aesthetic goals during your consultation.

Types of Breast Lift Incisions

  • Anchor Incision – an anchor incision requires a circular one around the areola, a vertical one that extends from the bottom of the areola to the infra-mammary fold, and the final one along the infra-mammary fold itself. The final outline of these three incisions looks a lot like an anchor, which gives it its name. This is often considered to be the most extensive technique.
  • Crescent Incision – often combined with a breast augmentation, a crescent-shaped incision is made along the top half of your areola. This skin is removed and the implants are inserted. The method of this procedure allows for additional volume and firmness in addition to raising your nipple into a more youthful position. The scar visibility resulting from this incision is very minimal and will continue to fade over time.
  • Donut Incision – also known as periareolar mastopexy, the donut incision encircles the outer periphery of the areolae. This technique requires the smallest and fewest number of incisions.
  • Lollipop incision – Dr. Jaiswal will make a circular incision around the areola, followed by a vertical incision at the bottom of the areola to the inframammary fold, with the combination of these two incisions looking like the outline of a lollipop. This technique allows Dr. Jaiswal to remove more skin and tissue than a Donut incision but results in less scarring than a full breast lift.

What’s the First Step?

The first step is always to get in touch! We know surgery can sometimes feel intimidating, and we’ll be here every step of the way. After contacting our office, our front desk team will schedule a time for you to meet one-on-one with Dr. Jaiswal. You’ll be able to ask questions and learn more about the procedure. The surgeon will complete a thorough exam and provide expert recommendations.

If you’re happy with his assessment, surgery will be booked and Dr. Jaiswal will provide you with pre and postoperative instructions. It’s critical that you follow these instructions as closely as possible, as they are created to limit any risks or complications.

Dr. Jaiswal will ask what medications you’re currently taking and want your medical history. We highly recommend that our patients do not smoke for several weeks prior to surgery. Please be open and honest with the surgeon about your medical history and your aesthetic goals. Great communication is essential in achieving optimal results.

What to Expect on the Day of Surgery?

On the day of your surgery, you’ll show up at our world-class Las Vegas surgery center. While our team preps for your surgery, you’ll be led to a comfortable room to get ready. We’ll make sure you’re relaxed and prepared throughout the entire process.

The surgery will be performed under anesthesia, so by the time you wake up, your surgery will be complete and you’ll be ready for recovery. The breast contouring procedure takes on average 2-3 hours to perform.

During the operation, Dr. Jaiswal will lift and tighten the breast skin to modify and reshape drooping breasts. During the procedure, we will restructure the breast skin envelope to lift the tissue and form it into a rounded and fuller shape. During this time, nipples that point down can also be adjusted for a more optimal position.

Breast Lift Recovery

Depending on the treatment plan you discuss with Dr. Rohit Jaiswal, surgeries will typically last between one and three hours. Anesthesia will be used, and you will usually be able to return home that same day. Medication will be prescribed to you to help aid and manage any discomfort you may feel following the surgery. It is recommended that during the first month or so, you try to avoid participating in any strenuous activities – this time frame may adjust based on the Doctor’s recommendation.

If you also received breast implants, it is highly advised that you do not lift anything heavier than five pounds for the first two weeks. Sometimes swelling can last several months or longer, but you should be able to see your results immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose a board-certified plastic surgeon for my Breast Lift?

When your plastic surgeon has been certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, this ensures that your plastic surgeon has spent years studying and being specifically trained in the art of breast augmentation. In some states, your breast lift can be performed by an internal medicine physician, an OBGYN, or even a dentist! When you come into Atelier Plastic Surgery and have your Breast Lift performed by Dr. Jaiswal in Las Vegas, this means you can comfortably go into your procedure with the knowledge that you are in qualified and experienced hands.

Is a Breast Lift covered by insurance?

Unfortunately, a Breast Lift is widely considered to be a cosmetic surgery, so most insurance companies will not cover the procedure. For your insurance provider to even consider it as a treatment they would cover, you would first need to have it proven to be a medical necessity; in certain cases, Breast Reduction is often covered by insurance.

Will I be able to breastfeed after Breast Lift Surgery?

Yes. You will still be able to breastfeed after your breast lift, as long as your surgery is able to leave the nipple attached to the underlying breast tissue. If your lift requires a tremendous amount of excess skin to be removed, Dr. Jaiswal may need to remove the nipple and reattach it as a free nipple graft. While this won’t necessarily exempt you from being able to breastfeed, there is a rare but plausible chance that you will be unable to breastfeed in this circumstance.

How many appointments will I need?

After your surgery, Dr. Jaiswal will want you to return for a follow-up appointment within a few days post-surgery. During this appointment, he will examine your breasts to see how they are healing and to learn if you are satisfied with the results. He will have you return a few more times over the next year, usually, will check-ups take place around three weeks post-surgery, six weeks, three months, and then possibly six months to a year post-op. Dr. Jaiswal will always let you know when he would like to have you back at the end of each appointment.

How long until I see results?

Depending on the level of change you are trying to achieve, you should see some instant results following your surgery. Please keep in mind that there will still be some initial swelling and bruising during the first few weeks of recovery, so many of our Las Vegas Breast Lift patients begin to see their final results between two and three months as their breasts settle into their final shape.

When can I work out after a Breast Lift?

You will be able to do some light walking after your surgery, but we don’t want you to rupture any stitches or cause additional damage to your newly shaped breasts. Most of our Las Vegas Breast Lift patients will be able to gradually resume their workout routines six to eight weeks after surgery.

What if I want smaller breasts?

Typically, a Breast Lift will automatically reduce your breast size by one cup, but this doesn’t mean you will have volume loss. As the excess skin and sagging breast tissue are removed or repositioned, cup sizes are naturally reduced. If you are looking to achieve a more drastic change in your breast size, we encourage you to talk with Dr. Jaiswal about your options, which may necessitate Breast Reduction surgery.

How Long Does a Breast Lift Last?

As long as you maintain your weight, a breast lift will last indefinitely. Pregnancy and aging can affect your results as well, so there is the possibility of needing revision surgery in the future. Dr. Rohit Jaiswal will be happy to discuss the potential need for any future surgeries with you if this is a concern.

Will there be scars?

Yes, there will be some scarring after your surgery, however, Dr. Jaiswal will make sure the scars are as inconspicuous as possible. The vertical scar from your areola to your breast crease will be visible, but will not be too obvious. The scar within your breast crease, however, will be quite difficult to see.

Can a breast lift be combined with breast implants?

Absolutely! If the size of your breasts is a concern for you, discuss this with Dr. Rohit Jaiswal and he will help you obtain the breast size, shape, and position of your desire. In the meantime, please read our page on Breast Lift with Implants.

Can a breast lift be combined with a tummy tuck?

Yes, many of our patients combine their breast lift with a tummy tuck, this is typically referred to as a mommy makeover, as many patients get this surgery combination after pregnancy to regain their youthful bodies. Please view our full page on tummy tuck and mommy makeover for more information.
