Introduction to
At Atelier Plastic Surgery in Las Vegas, lip lift surgery is becoming increasingly more popular. There is no secret that people want a more defined upper lip that presents more shape and fullness. While there are non-surgical options like dermal fillers, they are not nearly as permanent as a lip lift.
It’s important to understand that there is a difference between a lip lift, which lifts the upper lip, and a lip implant, which is an implant that goes into the upper lip. Below, we’ve included more information about the surgery. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us today. We look forward to helping you look and feel your best!
What is a
Lip Lift?
A Lip Lift is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of a small strip of skin under your nose. When this is done, the area between your nose and lip (the philtrum) is shortened, exposing more of the red of your lips (your “vermillion”) which gives them a fuller and more youthful appearance.
This procedure will also roll the vermillion border slightly, which will give your “Cupid’s Bow” more definition and reveal more of your upper teeth. The Lip Lift is a very customizable procedure that is performed under local anesthesia and usually takes about one hour, after which you will be able to return home.
What are the Benefits of a Lip Lift?
The number one benefit of a Lip Lift is that you will have a more exposed, confident smile. Some of the other benefits we have noticed at Dr. Jaiswal’s office are:
It gives you a more proportionate look.
Enhanced lip shape.
Avoids giving you “Duck Lips” that can come from lip filler injections.
It’s permanent!
The surgery is quick and easy and allows you to return home the same day.
Who are the Best Candidates for a Lip Lift?
While anybody can be a good candidate for a Lip Lift, we believe the best candidates are those who have been experiencing a drooping upper lip due to aging or those who feel like their lips are naturally too thin. Some of the most common motivations for Lip Lift surgery are:
Addressing aging.
Shortening a long lip.
Increase the visibility of your teeth.
Avoiding Lip Fillers.
What’s the First Step?
The first step to getting a lip lift in Las Vegas with Dr. Jaiswal is education. Dr. Jaiswal prides himself on making sure his patients are fully comfortable with the procedure and have a very good understanding of the ins and outs of the surgery. If you and Dr. Jaiswal both come to the conclusion that this is the best procedure for you, surgery will be booked and we’ll provide you with full pre and postoperative instructions.
To get the best lip lift results, please be very open and honest with Dr. Jaiswal about your surgical goals. Remember, good communication will help lead to optimal results.
On the day of your Lip Lift surgery, Dr. Jaiswal will first draw markings on your upper lip based on the design discussed during your consultation. He will then administer some numbing medicine by injecting it into your mouth, very similar to a dental procedure. Once the medication takes effect, the portion of the skin that Dr. Jaiswal marked will be gently removed while any light bleeding is controlled. The incision will be closed with many tiny sutures to create the best cosmetic result possible. Once the procedure is complete, the area is covered with antibiotic ointment to ensure a healthy outcome.
The whole procedure will last approximately an hour.
Dr. Rohit Jaiswal is a board-certified plastic surgeon and a proud member of the Aesthetic Society. Lip Lift Surgery is a quick, in-patient surgery, however, the recovery time does take between 7 and 10 days. During this time, you should expect to see your incision as red and/or swollen with some additional bruising around your mouth. Most of our patients can return to work within a week’s time. You should certainly avoid any strenuous physical activity while healing and you MUST refrain from smoking and excessive chewing during this period.
To ease any discomfort, Dr. Jaiswal recommends using cold compresses very gently on the treated area. You can also take over-the-counter pain medication to minimize any pain. To achieve the healthiest and best results, we also recommend cleaning the incision with diluted hydrogen peroxide and applying an antibiotic ointment twice a day for the first week. You should also consider sleeping on a few pillows to keep your head elevated and avoid sleeping on your stomach.
If the sutures used are absorbable, they won’t need to be removed, however, if they are permanent, you will be required to return after a week to have them removed.
After a few weeks, a majority of the swelling should subside and you will also be able to cover up any scarring with make-up. While the scar may be more noticeable at the beginning of your recovery, it too should fade over time.
The cost of a lip lift in Las Vegas will vary on a number of factors. During your consultation with Dr. Jaiswal, he’ll be able to explain the procedure and give you a detailed breakdown of the pricing.

Is there a non-surgical option?
Of course! Some of our patients are not quite ready to have permanent results, but are still looking to enhance their lips and regain a youthful appearance. Dr. Jaiswal offers some alternative options for a Lip Lift, such as dermal fillers, and while they are not as long-lasting, they are less expensive options with positive results. If you are interested in some of the non-surgical options that Dr. Jaiswal offers, please schedule a consultation with our office to learn more about them.
Are the results permanent?
Absolutely! The wonderful thing about the Lip Lift procedure is that they are permanent, long-lasting results that require no follow-up appointments or additional filler. Please keep in mind that time and gravity still take effect over the years, but you will be able to enjoy the benefits of your procedure for many years to come.
What are the risks?
Although rare under Dr. Jaiswal’s experienced hands, there are always risks that can come from facial augmentation surgery. There is always the risk of possible infection, although this can be mostly avoided with proper treatment following your surgery. Other possible risks are:
Does a lip lift change my smile?
The Lip Lift will change your smile. Due to the outcome of the procedure, you will see a change in your smile in that more of your teeth and gumline will be exposed. This gives most of our patients a youthful, more confident smile that lasts for many, many years.
