The technical word for the operation is a rhytidectomy, however, most people refer to it as a facelift. The surgical procedure is created to rejuvenate the face. It involves lifting or tightening tissues in order to produce a smoother jawline, reduce jowls, increase the volume of the cheek, and/or improve the appearance of the neck.

What Type of Facelift Does Dr. Jaiswal Perform?
Dr. Jaiswal has performed many types of facelifts including deep plane, high SMAS, and MACS. The differences are discussed during the consultation and the treatment recommendations are tailored to the individual patient.
Traditional
The deeper layer of tissue covering the muscle is released at various points and lifted. This is typically the most comprehensive facelift and restores cheek volume, jawline definition, neck contour, and reduces or eliminates jowling.
Mini facelift
A less invasive facelift method that typically acts only on improving the lower 1/3 of the face. It is used in patients who do not have advanced aging and are seeking an improvement of the jawline and/or jowls.
Mid-facelift
A procedure where volume is added to the mid-face. This can be done using a patient’s own fat.
Nonsurgical facelift (liquid facelift)
For select patients, using fillers throughout the face may produce improvement in cheek volume, fewer wrinkles, and a stronger jawline or chin. This is typically reserved for patients with only mild signs of aging.
What’s the First Step?
The first step is to schedule a consultation. During the consult, Dr. Jaiswal will assess your facial tissues and discuss your goals. Then he will make a recommendation of a treatment plan.
If you’re happy with Dr. Jaiswal’s recommendations surgery will be booked and we’ll provide pre and postoperative instructions. Please make sure to follow these instructions as closely as possible, as it will lead to optimal facelift results and reduce the chances of risk and complications.
Tip: Be honest! During your consultation be upfront with Dr. Jaiswal about your surgical goals. It’s important for him to understand your expectations so he can let you know what is and what is not possible.
Dr. Jaiswal will see you in the pre-operative area and make some markings. The surgery can then be done under local or general anesthesia. Surgery time can take anywhere from 1.5-3.5 hours or longer depending on the type of facelift. After the procedure, your head and face will be wrapped and you will be sent home for recovery.
Recovery time is variable depending on the patient and the type of facelift. Typical recovery times are 1-4 weeks. Most patients will appear socially acceptable at 4 weeks though some take longer. The final results are not seen for about 6 months.

Are their scars after a facelift?
Yes. The scars are typically hidden within the hairline and the natural creases around the ear to make them as inconspicuous as possible. The scars typically heal quite well.
Is there a non-surgical option?
On occasion, using fillers only or in combination with laser treatments and micro-needling may be enough to produce an improved appearance. A consultation will be needed to determine which patients are good candidates for this.
What’s the best age for a facelift?
There is no best age. Dr. Jaiswal has performed facelifts on patients in their 30’s up to the ’80s. A patient’s appearance and tissue aging is a more important factor than just age.
How long do the results last?
Each patient is variable and a definite number cannot be promised. However, facelifts are said to last anywhere from 3-10 years depending on the type of lift.
What are the associated risks with a facelift?
There can be risks of complications such as facial nerve injury, loss of sensation, bleeding, infection, poor scarring, under correction, or overcorrection.
