Introduction to

Chemical Peels

Our skin can take a beating as we age and have more exposure to the elements, especially living out here in Sin City. These irregularities are most commonly visible on our faces in the form of our complexion, fine lines, wrinkles, clogged pores, scarring, and more. Thankfully, you don’t have to get K.O.’d by these skin impurities! Fight back with a chemical peel in Las Vegas, a non-invasive procedure that can address some of these symptoms and more. When you come in to see board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Jaiswal at Atelier Plastic Surgery, you can rest assured that your Chemical Peel will leave your skin looking fresh and renewed!

This treatment is also popular for its relatively low cost, fast results, and quick recovery. Specific downtimes vary depending on the depth of the peel, but they are normally low to no downtime.

What is a

Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels are a category of advanced clinical skin rejuvenation treatments that help turn back the dial of time on facial skin by speeding up the skin’s natural regeneration process and eliminating the previous dead skin layers. Chemical peels can be performed on all parts of the body: face, neck, chest, back, arms, and legs. You may require more than one peel to achieve your required results, as the depth of the peel depends on the chemical used.

During the treatment, a topical solution is applied to the skin to release and eliminate the upper layers of dead and damaged skin, thereby uncovering the newer, fresher skin underneath. Furthermore, chemical peels stimulate collagen production in deeper layers of the skin, helping with longer-term skin tightness and health.

What’s the First Step?

The first step to getting a chemical peel at Atelier Plastic Surgery is to schedule an in-person visit with Dr. Jaiswal. During the consultation, he will ask you about your medical history, aesthetic goals, concerns, and expectations for the procedure. It is essential to share information about chronic conditions and any skin aberration you might have, as that will determine the strength and type of peel.

Dr. Jaiswal will evaluate your skin condition and the target areas of concern. At the end of the consultation, he will draft your treatment plan. You can either receive your chemical peel immediately following your consultation or, if you’d prefer, schedule your appointment for a convenient time later in your calendar.

What to Expect on the Day of a Chemical Peel

On the day of your chemical peel, Dr. Jaiswal and his staff will welcome you to the practice and get you settled. They will go over the treatment plan once more if you have any outlying questions.

Finally, the target area will be cleansed first, and then, if needed, especially for stronger peels, a topical anesthetic will be given just in case there is any discomfort.

Dr. Jaiswal will then apply the chemical solution to the target area for a few minutes, which will produce a slight burning sensation, indicating the dislodging of old skin cells. This solution will be wiped immediately, and a neutralizing solution will be applied to stop the chemical reaction.

The treatment could take anywhere from fifteen minutes to a few hours, depending on the size of the treatment area and the depth of your chemical peel.

Chemical Peel Recovery

Mild swelling and reddening of the target area are expected. Feeling itching or tingling during and initially after recovery is also normal.

A crust or scab will form a day after the procedure to protect your new skin. Letting this layer fall off on its own time and not force removal is important. With the use of prescribed creams, moisturizers, and ointments, it will fall off in a few days on its own. You are allowed to wash the area with warm water and soap gently. Beneath the scab, your face will appear red again like a sunburn. It will then gradually lighten into a pinkish hue, getting lighter and returning close to normal after several weeks when your skin has completely regenerated. Most lighter freckles and birthmarks will disappear.

While you are fine with doing your average routine within a day or so, you should avoid any strenuous activities for two to three weeks. You will also want to avoid sunlight as best as possible for the first three weeks, as your pigmentation will have been stripped away during the treatment. Once your pigmentation returns, we strongly encourage you to wear good sunblock. After this three-week mark, you can wear light makeup, but consider stopping usage if the skin reacts.

How Much Does a Chemical Peel Cost in Las Vegas, NV?

The cost of a chemical peel in Las Vegas, NV, is determined by multiple factors, such as the chemical being used, the size of the target area, and the depth of the peel. We recommend that you schedule your chemical peel consultation as soon as possible to receive a customized quote that can offer you the most needed and cost-efficient treatment.
